FAMILY AND SCHOOL CONNECTION

This time of year many families are ready for winter to be over.  To have something different to look forward to, plan a “cabin fever reliever.”  Invite another family or two over for Friday night fun.  Children are always happy to have their parents involved with them in such a positive way.  Plan to play games such as charades, Monopoly, Yatzee, Trivial Pursuit and watch a movie together.  Make it easy on everyone and order out for pizza.  Serve the pizza with veggies and dip.  Then have a special dessert of make your own hot fudge sundaes.  Have your guests bring the ice cream and other toppings

Here is a great hot fudge sauce recipe you can make ahead of time and then reheat in a double boiler or in the microwave. 
 

Microwave Chocolate Sauce 

1 cup sugar
1 (5.3oz) can evaporated milk
1/4 tsp. salt

In a 3-quart bowl stir together sugar, salt, and milk.  Microwave at high 4-5 minutes, until boiling hard.

2 oz unsweetened chocolate
2T. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Into boiling mixture stir chocolate completely.  Stir in butter and vanilla. Yields 1 ½ Cup
This type of special Friday night fun is bound to bring your family closer together.
