Scones 

ingredients: 

  • 2 cups whole wheat pastry flour 
  • 2 tsp baking powder 
  • 1/4 tsp salt 
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar 
  • 2/3 cup dried fruit of your choice 
  • 1 egg, beaten 
  • 1/4 cup low-fat milk 


to make: 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees 
  • Combine first 5 ingredients in a bowl and cut with pastry knife. 
  • Whisk together egg and milk. 
  • Stir wet ingredients into dry. 
  • Knead the dough lightly 10 times. 
  • Pat into a round and place on a baking pan. 
  • Cut through round to make eight wedges, but don't seperate the peices. 
  • Bake for fifteen to 20 minutes or until slightly brown and firm to the touch. 
  • Let sit for 15 minutes then serve.
