Mrs. Spear was born in Massachusetts and moved to Maine around 1990. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in elementary education from Saint Joseph's College in Standish, Maine and a Master's Degree in special education from Lesley College in Boston, Massachusetts. Mrs. Spear has taught for over twenty years. She has traveled extensively and holds a special place in her heart for New Zealand, the birthplace of her mother. She has a son, Travis (who is also a teacher) and a daughter-in-law, Chika, who was born in Japan. She loves to golf, ski, and kayak. She lives on Spruce Head Island with her husband John and her pets, Sadie, Mingo, Chloe, and Nina.
