Michael Parent

On February 13, 2006 Michael Parent put on an excellent performance for students in grades K-2 from Cushing Community School (CCS). Parents were invited to attend and an announcement of the event was published in the local paper. The children from CCS immensely enjoyed listening to Michael Parent’s storytelling. The crowd of over 50 children and adults were all totally mesmerized by Michael’s animated stories, unique musical instruments, and fantastic juggling acts. It is very difficult to captivate children at this age for an entire hour, but Michael did so without even a squirm from his audience. As children were leaving the auditorium, they exclaimed in excitement to Michael comments such as “You’re awesome!” or “Hey, did you know that you are a very funny guy?” and “Wow! You’re cool!”. Michael’s intriguing presentation impressed teachers and adults and put smiles on many faces.

The field trip was a valuable educational experience for both children and adults who attended and was well worth the time taken away from the classroom. The teachers and students in Grades K-2 at Cushing Community School are thankful for having had the opportunity to see such a talented entertainer and greatly appreciate Debby Atwell’s enthusiastic offer to provide us with such an exciting experience.
