Scholarship Handbook
Second Edition
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The summaries contained in this handbook are intended only to assist students in the financial aid process. Students and parents are responsible for ensuring that all required materials are submitted by each deadline and for pursuing additional opportunities through other sources, such as college financial aid offices and on-line resources. The information contained in this handbook is as accurate as possible; however, changes to eligibility criteria, deadlines and other conditions are implemented by the agency sponsoring the scholarship. Although we make every effort to give you the very latest scholarship information, Georges Valley High School and the Student Services Office cannot be held responsible for the up-to-date accuracy of this list.
To aid you in your scholarship applications, we suggest the following tips:
- Read the directions carefully and check the eligibility requirements, deadline dates and return instructions on EACH scholarship application.
- Submit all applications in ink! Remember that the presentation of your information will influence how much you are considered. Neat and readable applications get the most attention initially. Sometimes it is helpful to make a photocopy of the application and fill it out in pencil. Then, after careful review, it can be copied in ink onto the final application.
- Most applications will require a high school transcript. Be sure to submit your transcript request at least two weeks before the scholarship deadline. A blank transcript request form is included at the end of this handbook.
- Not all applications require a counselor letter. Please read the application carefully to determine if a counselor letter is needed and if so, allow two weeks for the Student Services office to process your request.
- Questions may be directed to Mary Joyce Grotton in the Student Services Office (354-2502 Ext. 204, or email: jgrotton@msad50.org).
