The children begin this unit studying the human skeleton.  Children ascertain which bones are used while jumping rope.  Next, they look at photos and count the number of bones in the body.  At this time, they begin to learn the names and distinguish the different types of bones in the body.  The children also dissect owl pellets and find that the bones in rodents and birds are similar in shape to bones in their bodies as well.
