In this unit, children grow Brassica Fast Plants from seed.  They also learn about the relationship of different plants.  We visit the Morris Farm or another agricultural site to discover how plants are interrelated and the importance of a healthy ecosystem.  We were awarded a grant by MBNA to install a garden at Lura Libby School.  Many thanks to Jeff Armstrong for donating the cedar ties, Lance Polky for constructing the framework, and all our other parent volunteers who assisted the children. This will be an ongoing project by third grade to beautify our school grounds, and create an appreciation and responsibility of the school community.
