Thomaston History
Unit
Each
year third graders learn about the history of Thomaston.
Learning experiences include reading If You Lived In Colonial
Times, a walking tour of Thomaston including the Thomaston Cemetery,
and a visit to Montpelier, the Henry Knox Museum.
Students learn of the many industries of early Thomaston such as ship-building
and the production of lime. Other activities
consist of making berry ink and writing with quill pens, writing and illustrating
history books of Thomaston, and designing postcards of old
Thomaston.
