Lura Libby
After School Program

Paola McCabe, Director

The Lura Libby After School Program strives to provide:

  • an informal learning environment that promotes growth in a safe nurturing setting
  • the opportunity to select from activities which range from active to restful and from challenging to reinforcing
  • clear limits and expectations of behavior
  • an affordable program which respects the values and cultural backgrounds of those involved

This Program is available Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on days that school is in session for the full day.

The Children:

The After School Program helps children gain an understanding of appropriate behavior.  Positive behavior is promoted through attention to physical space, activities provided, and the expectations set by adults.  Snacks are provided every day, and each family is asked to donate a snack once a month.

The Activities:

Activities are planned for the needs and interests of the children involved and include outdoor play, organized free choice, physical games, board games, legos, puzzles, art, crafts, food activities, and special events.  Outdoor play is a part of the daily routine.

The Projects:

Special projects are part of the After School Program.  During the 1999-2000 school year, children built bird feeders and planters.
