Van Gogh Inspired Cityscapes
In this lesson we discussed the artist
Vincent Van Gogh by talking about his life and looking at his art work.
One of the pieces of art we focused on was Starry Night, we talked about
the texture of the paint and how to used different brush strokes to create
the same affect as Vincent Van Gogh.

Cave Paintings
In this lesson we discussed Prehistoric
art and the lives of people who lived many years ago before there were
shopping centers, cars,and planes. Cave people who lived off the land and
who may have dwelled in caves. We discussed the Lascaux Caves in France,
we looked at cave paintings. The students used brown and black paint and
used their hands and fingers to paint much like the artists who painted
on the cave walls so many years ago.

Egyptian Hieroglyphics
In this lesson we talked about Ancient
Egypt culture and the Egyptian writing. Ancient Egyptian writing used over
2,000 hieroglyphic characters. Each hieroglyph represented a common object.
Hieroglyphs could represent the sound of the object, or they could represent
an idea associated with the object. Hieroglyphs were written in rows or
columns without spaces between words.
