The fourth grade students created circus masks using recycled materials and paper mache. First the students brainstormed different animals one might see in the circus, then they practiced drawing the animals. The students picked a partner and paper mached a balloon. The following week they cut the balloon in half and then build up the surface using various materials. The materials were then paper mached, first the masks were painted white to cover the newspaper and then painted using colors which represented the animal they were trying to create.
