Charles Drew

     My inventor is Charles Drew. He was born June 3, 1904, in Washington DC. He died in 1950. He was the oldest of five brothers and sisters. He was black. He received the Thomas W. Ashley memorial trophy for sports. He was really good at sports. He graduated from McGill. 
     He was a doctor. One of his hobbies was sports. He was married to Lenore Robbins and had 4 children. He died in a car wreck in North Carolina and his own invention could not save him. 
     Charles Drew invented the blood bank. He invented it in 1939 at the Columbia Medial Center. It was used for blood transfusion that helped save lives. It took 9 years for Charles Drew to make it.  He had help making it from Dr. John Scudder and Dr. E. H. L. Corwin. 
     He was famous but not rich. He had his own stamp. His invention was very popular in wars.
