Garrett Morgan

Garrett Morgan was born on a farm in Paris, Kentucky, in 1877. He was one out of eleven children. Garrett Morgan was an African-America inventor. His formal education ended at 14 years of age when he was in sixth grade. He hired a tutor to help him master his English grammar. He eventually settled in Cleveland, Ohio. He made stop lights for a living and then he went on to something else. 

Garrett Morgan invents the stop light for a lot of people all around the world. The first three colors were installed in 1920.The stoplight was made for people who would not slow down in town. Garrett Morgan was planning to make the stoplight. He had no help from anyone, wife, sibling or anyone. Garrett Morgan got a patent for his invention on February, 27, 1923.  He later sold technology for his light to the General Electric Corporation. Garrett Morgan made a lot more inventions, like the gas mask. He died in 1963.
