John S. Pemberton
By Taylor Y.

John S. Pemberton invented Coca Cola. He was born July 20, 1831.  He was in Knoxville, Tennessee, when he was born. He had a father named James Pemberton and his mother’s name was Rebecca Clifford. John had siblings and their names were Ann, Archy, Mary and Martha. John got a degree and later a graduate degree in pharmacy. He went to a university, too. John was a druggist in Columbus and built a laboratory. He was a surgeon, too. John loved to make medicines and sell them. John had a son named Charles.
Before John changed the name to “Coca Cola,” it was called “Pemberton’s French Wine Cola.”  It was made in Atlanta 1886. He made it because it was Prohibition time and he wanted to invent a new drink. John had a store that sold White wine cola and he changed it to Coca Cola. He used coca plant, cola nuts, and he sweetened it with sugar.
John was addicted to morphine.  He died August 16, 1888.  He died before filing for his incorporation of Coca Cola Company.  Coca Cola was a very popular drink and the company made $15 billion dollars.
I think his invention is a very good invention.
