Milton Bradley was born in Vienna, Maine on November 8, 1836.  His father was a minister. Milton was interested in board games when he was a kid.  Bradley graduated from high school.  He attended 2 years at Lawrence Scientific School.  He quit 3 months before his graduation because he ran out of money.  He got a job in lithography and as a draftsman.  He had a wife and 2 daughters.
Bradley invented many board games.  His first board game was invented in 1860.  It was used for education as well as entertainment. Bradley printed his own games.  He was inspired by a European game that he was playing with a friend.  In one year Bradley sold more than 45,000 games.  He made lots of money from his games.  One of his games was the checkered game of Life.  To win you have to get to a happy old age.  If you land on a square called prison you would lose one move. He also made traveling games for soldiers.
One other thing that Bradley was known for was getting kindergarten put into public schools. Education was very important to him.
     Milton Bradley died in 1911.
