This unit was originally designed as a backwards design unit under the guidance of consultant Barbara Tague. The unit was expanded when Mrs. Ford, Mrs. Davenport, and Ms Dodd-Collins participated in a workshop sponsored by the Maine Association of School Librarians, "Making Them a Class Act". The focus of the MASL workshop was to encourage teacher-library media specialist collaboration and to document ways in which the librarian contributes to the learning process.
