FRISBEE GOLF 2004

During the week of October 18th, the third and fourth grade PE classes at both LL and CCS began a Frisbee unit.  The unit started with a group discussion concerning the history of Frisbee (Knowledge), the various games played (Application), and the different kinds of flying disc on the market (Analysis).

On Wednesday, October 20th, a Frisbee golf course was set up on school grounds.  At CCS, third and fourth grade students worked in pairs to complete the 7-hole course.  Each student used scorecards to track their throws.

This activity required basic math skills as students compared their score against PAR, totaled their final score, and figured the average of throws per hole.  Additionally, measurements were taken between holes and recorded on the scorecards.

Student’s creative writing ability and keen observation was evident when the classes invented names for the various holes on the course.  Some of these reflected the location of the hole (Big Ole Oak), while others described the hole’s attributes (Sparkle End).
