S.T.E.P. 2005
(Skating/Tennis Education Program)
Fifth grade students at Thomaston Grammar School participated in this year's S.T.E.P. at the Midcoast Recreation Center (MRC).  S.T.E.P. offers area students ice skating and tennis lessons at the Rockport facility. On four Fridays, students traveled to MRC for 50 minute instruction on both the ice and the court.  This program is matched to the Maine Learning Results and is fully funded by a private grant.

All fifth grade teachers and many dedicated parent volunteers also participated. The program was well received by all. Growth and improvement were evident during each session.  Students developed new skills, new friendships, and discovered new opportunities through S.T.E.P.
