Meg Carroll     Vocal  Music Teacher
Cushing Community School      Lura Libby School        St George School

Meg has been a classroom teacher in MSAD #50 for the past 18 years. She has a degree from Skidmore College in Music Education and began her teaching career in 1978 as a K - 12 Vocal Music teacher. After moving to Mid-Coast Maine and teaching privately, Meg received her Elementary classroom certification and began teaching Grade One at Lura Libby School.  She has taught Grades Three, Four and Five in the district but continued renewing up her Music certification. Meg integrated Music,Dance and Drama throughout her classroom themes: she and her students performed in  plays and musical reviews each year!

With Beverly DalPozzal's retirement came the opportunity to bring Meg's teaching career full circle. She has found students to be enthusiastic about Music and they look forward to class each week. Students have been actively involved in lots of activities which reinforce steady beat and rhythmic patterns. Other activities include creative movement and dance, song writing, and building a repertoire of American folk songs. Fourth graders will begin recorders while the younger grades will begin working with melody and playing percussion/Orff instruments. Fifth and Sixth graders will continue exploring basic notation and concepts, musical styles and will soon begin a research project on a musician/composer of their choice. In addition, many integrated lessons have been planned with classroom teachers which reinforced Literacy, Social Studies and Science themes. The Fifth and Sixth Grade Chorus has 20 members and is really coming together as a strong, balanced group. The fall elementary concerts were well-attended and the students did a great job!

Meg has had a busy, but rewarding start as the district Elementary Music teacher and is looking forward to new learning experiences and having fun with the students!
