Beavers

My mammal is the beaver. My mammal is 27 to 35 inches long.  My mammal weighs 28 to 75 pounds. My mammal looks furry. It has a big tail, webbed feet, and big sharp teeth to chop down wood.  My mammal can walk slowly on land.  When he is in the water he swims fast. My mammal lives in fresh water streams, rivers, ponds, or lakes near trees. They live in dome-shaped lodges. The entrance is under the water so beavers can get in it. They eat water plant roots, leaves, buds, twigs, fruits, and fern. Their enemies are the coyote, bobcat, and fisher. My mammal protects itself by slapping its tail on the water to show other beavers that danger is coming. My mammal has up to 3 to 4 babies called kits.  The babies stay with mom for 2 years. I didn’t know their babies are called kits. They can hold their breath for 5 minutes. And I didn’t know they had webbed feet.
I liked learning about Beavers. They are cool.
