Directions on Beginning Your Own Great E-Mail Race

This project was a wonderful learning experience for my students.  It is a great project because it can be successfully completed with the  minimum technology equipment or  the most extravagant!  Good luck, I hope your students have as much fun as we did.

The Great E-mail Race can be easily adapted to any grade level.

* Begin by formulating a questionnaire that  you would like to send to other schools.

* Divide the fifty states between your students.

* Have your students search for schools in their assigned states.

* Once they have chosen their schools, have them search for the school's e-mail
address. You will get a quicker response if you can find a grade level e-mail address. Web masters don't always reply.

* Send the questionnaire via e-mail and wait for a reply.

* Obtain a large map of the United States. Put the names of  the students on the states they wrote to. As the replies are received color in the state.

Web 66 is monumental because it has every worldwide school published web site.
