WELCOME TO OUR CLASS!
Hello!  Welcome to our fourth grade class.  Our teacher is Mrs. Davenport.  She loves pigs!  She collects pigs.  She has stuffed pigs, pig pictures, pig books, and even pig calendars!  Her favorite book is Babe, the Gallant Pig by Dick King-Smith.

We know many facts about pigs.  Here are some of them:
1. Pigs are mammals.
2. A pig's snout is used for breathing - but it's also great for sweating and digging.
3. Pigs love mud because it keeps them cool.
4. They don'thave sweat glands so mud protects their skin and lowers the pig's temperature.
5. Pigs can swim.  Their large amount of fat helps themfloat.
6. Pigs aren't as "piggy" as you think.  Pigs stop eatingwhen they are full, unlike cows who will keep eating until they get sick.
7. In 1795, a famous pig called the "Learned Pig," was taught to spell, tell time, and solve math problems with the help of rewards.
