Good afternoon my name is Dahlov Ipcar. I am 86 years old.
I was born on November 12, 1917 in Wendor, Vermont. I grew
up in New York City in Greenwich Village. I spent many summers
on the Maine Coast. My father William was a sculptor and
my mother Marguerite was a painter.
Even though I am a good artist, I was never enrolled in art lessons.
I was accepted to Walden and Lincoln Teachers
College. I also attended Oberlin College.
The reason I am famous is because I am represented in all leading
art museums in Maine. I illustrated The Little
Fisherman and 30 children’s books.
I was born during World War I. 35,000 Mainers served
in World War I. During World II, 95,000 Mainers served.
I was there when World War II started and also in 1948
when Margaret Chase Smith was elected to the U.S. Senate.
I was married after college. I married Adolph, and I had
kids named Robert and Charles. I moved to Georgetown, Maine.
To this day, I am still painting.
