This year the 6th graders and Alternative Education students at the St. George School are working on building a  Outdoor Learning Center behind the school. The Outdoor Learning Center will run right by the St. George marsh. We the 6th graders and Alternative Education students are re-constructing and re-building the overgrown and unidentified trail. It will be gorgeous when we get it all done this summer.

   Tanglewood Education
To learn how to build the Outdoor Learning Center we went to Tanglewood Youth Forestry Camp in Lincolnville, Maine. We all went to Tanglewood during peak foliage season so all the colors were amazing. While we were at Tanglewood we learned to use different tools like: soil augers  compasses, and measuring tape. We also learned how to tell the difference between hardwood and softwood forests, we learned to map out forest as we were pacing it correctly, and we measured and used compasses correctly.  At the very end of Tanglewood we mapped out all we had done those three days with our instructors Bob, Emily, Will, and Sam. It was called a Land Management Plan. It showed us the whole land and how we broke it up into sections and mapped it out. At the Tanglewood Youth Forestry Camp we learned a whole lot. We are ready to build the magnificent St. George Out door Learning Center.
Tanglewood  Recreation
We had loads of fun at Camp Tanglewood. For example we had a hilarious talent show with some beautiful  Erkil girls in it, we toasted marshmallows one night, and we also went on a night walk. At first the night walk was scary, but then I partnered up with somebody and it wasn't so bad anymore; it was really fun. While we were on the night walk we played bat & moth and we saw a wild porcupine.
We also had cabin groups. My group had seven girls and my sciance teacher, Mrs. Maynard. Our cabin was the best. It was called the Nest.
