Persuasive Picture. Persuasive Essay. |
| The
St.George School 6th grade and Alt Ed students are trying to build an outdoor
learning center for the school community. We'd like to do this because we'd
like kids and people to learn about trees, nature and animals.
We went to Tanglewood's Youth Forestry Camp in Lincolnville, Maine to learn how to build our outdoor learning center. While we were there, we learned how to use compasses, how to pace, how to use a soil auger, how to measure distance, and how to determine hardwood from softwood trees. The biggest piece of Tanglewood was when we made our maps, and/or land management plans, compass use, pacing, soil auger to determine soil make up.We also learned how to measure distance in the forest, to be able to map out our outdoor learning center and plan out where to put the trail signs and the parking lot. |
