This year the 6th grade class and the Alternative Education boys went to Tanglewood's youth Forestry camp in Linclonville Maine. There were exciting adventures in the woods. We got to use a compass, soil auger, and pacing meters, and other fun things like group games, night walks that stressed our fears of going in the dark, sometimes even basketball. But my favorite part about going to camp Tanglewood was going in the woods and using the compass. It was a great experience for us to go because now we know how to go in the woods and make nature trails behind our school.

This is a sixth grader using a compass in the woods. We were all in groups. The purpose of camp Tanglewood was to learn to make paths and go in the woods and look for different kinds of trees. Now we can go in the woods and make paths on our Outdoor Learning Center.

Walking up the hill to go to camp Tanglewood. We were on our way to an exciting adventure in the woods. We heard a lot about it and everyone was excited to go. Tanglewood was the best time I had in school ever.

A town meeting we had at camp Tanglewood when we had to stand up in front of everyone and talk about our land management plans we did in groups.

As one of our assignments we got to go in the woods and pick out an interesting spot to have along the trail. We then had to persuade the the sixth graders to have our chosen spot along the path. click here to review my persuasive letter.

This is a picture of the crooked tree I did a persuasive paper on. It was so fun to go in the woods and find a special tree or something you like about the woods. I picked this tree because there were no others around like it.
