Nature Trail Index

The 6th graders and Alternative Education students at St. George School are building an outdoor learning center behind the school and it is going to be for the community. The community will be able to walk on the path and see the forest scenery and have a great place to calm down and relax.

In order to build an outdoor learning center we went to the Youth Forestry Camp at Tanglewood in Lincolnville, Maine for 3 days on October13-15 because we were learning how to build a nature trail. We played a lot of games. We learned how to use a compass, soil augers and to divide land. It is a fun place to about Nature. We also had recreation time which means we got to play games like basketball and soccer.
The first night we stayed at Tanglewood we went on a night walk. It was fun because we played a game called Bat and Moth. During  the night walk we also got to have a breath-saver and we saw the life saver glow when we chewed it. We also played Each One Teach One. When we were playing Each One Teach One my teacher let me show the group how to use a soil auger. At night the girls cabin played tricks on the boys. After the boys found out that it was the girls that did a trick on them they tricked us back. They pounded on the cabin and made some girls scared, but it was only the boys. We all had a great time at Youth Forestry Camp at Tanglewood!
