Dear
St. George Community,
Have you ever been in the woods on a hike
and found a spot that particularly drew your attention? I found a location just
like this out in the woods behind the St. George School. It would be perfect
for a bench because it overlooks the water and many people love the water. The
ground is mossy, and somewhat flat, surrounded by spaced out trees. It’s a very
peaceful place; the ideal place to sit and think and reflect. I feel the spot
beside the marsh is perfect for a bench because you can finally sit down, take
a break, and relax from work, school, and sports.
The nature trail should go by the edge of
the marsh because the view is tremendously enchanting. I think in addition that
the spot might inspire kids and the community to write poetry, do homework, and
maybe it might even inspire artists to draw or paint wonderful pictures. There
is drift wood, cat tails, and there is a lot of wildlife all around this area,
so it’s a perfect place for a bench. You can just sit and enjoy yourself while
learning and watching your surroundings. You could see frogs, ducks, and fish
in the spring while enjoying yourself. The ground is kind of flat so that would
make it easier for a bench to be put in. You might have to remove some moss to
place the bench but then you know it would be secure. I am sure we can find
other ways to secure a bench without removing moss.
Although some people may disagree, but most
people need a rest when they hike through the forest. The spot by the marsh is
about half way through the trail; a perfect place for a bench. You can sit and
cool down while relaxing and enjoying the wonderful nature around you. I feel
this is necessary because personally I get tired after walking for a long time.
The elderly, or mothers, or even children can get tired while walking. Like me,
and this bench will make all of our hikes easy and enjoyable.
I understand that other people have
different opinions and many have concerns about the placement of this bench.
One thing that might be a problem is will we have to remove some of the moss to
secure the bench? I think that if it isn’t secured in the ground there would be
a chance that it might get blown over or even worse, someone might try to steal
it. The solution is to make sure the bench is secured in a way that preserves
the environment as much as possible.
I really think that my special down by
the marsh is the perfect place for a bench. It’s quiet, serene, has a
delightful view, and has somewhat flat surroundings. Thank you for reading and
considering putting a bench down by the edge of the marsh on the St. George
nature trail.
Sincerely,
Kristin
