Tanglewood

The 6th graders and Alternative Education of St. George School are rebulding the old nature trail behind our school. We are going to replot the trail and make it better. The 6th graders of St.George School went Tanglewood Youth Forestry camp in October. We learned how to plot land for the St. George School nature trail. We learned a lot about the forest and how to correctly use a compass.  We also learned to tell softwood from hardwood. We could tell softwood from hard wood by the needles and leaves. Softwoods have needles and hard wood have leaves. We also tested the soil by using a soil auger. Somthing we did while we were there we went through the woods and measuered 500 feet. Also did a compass navigating game to work on our compass navigating skills.
Sometings we did for rec time,or for fun is played soccer and played basketball. For learning  rec time we played a game called EachOne TeachOne, Bat and Moth and we did this cool thing with a band aid. What we did is open a band aid in the dark and the glue chemicals glowed. We did other fun activites like a talent show, cooked marshmallows for s'mores on a campfire.  Some funny things that happened  was when the girls, put fake body parts in our sleeping bags.

The Rock

This picture is the rock I  picked to do a Persuasive Essay on. I chose this location because it is right near the marsh and it's big so a lot of people can fit on the rock. Also, there is a seat on the far side of the rock. You can see many things from the rock. For example the marsh and the field.

Compass Game

This a picture of us playing the compass game.  This game taught us  how to use a compass very well. To play this game is you pick a card and it will say a letter. All over the field there are posts that have a letter on them. You find your letter on the post then there is a bunch of angles and you have to follow them one by one.
