Meet Mrs. Johnson

Mrs. Johnson was one of five children, grew up in So. Thomaston, and graduated from Rockland High school in 1979. She received her B.S. in Music Education from the University of Southern Maine in 1983 and later completed 30 hours of graduate work in Music Education at the University of Maine at Orono. Her first teaching job was in Sanford, Maine where she taught instrumental music grades 5 - 12 for five years. In 1989, she was hired here in MSAD#50 as an instrumental music teacher grades 5 -12. She traveled to Cushing, St. George, T.G.S. and G.V.H.S. Due to growth in the overall music program within the district and building schedules and curriculums, additional music staff was hired and positions rearranged. Currently, Mrs. Johnson is the Music Director at Thomaston Grammar School and teaches general music classes, band and chorus for grades 5 - 8 at this school. She is an active member of the Maine Music Educators Association, involved in District III music events and has served as a guest honors band conductor throughout the State of Maine.

Mrs. Johnson resides in Spruce Head with her husband Dale and two children Sam (age 9) and Rachel (age 6) When she is not teaching, listening to, singing or playing music herself, Mrs. Johnson loves being a mom and spending time with her kids, camping, going to the beach, planting flowers around the yard, reading, and enjoying her extended family and friends.
